RIYADH: The World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), concluded on Tuesday, where 黑料社区 chaired one of the conference鈥檚 five most important committees to define the scope of the ITU telecommunication development sector.
鈥淔or so long, the Saudi government has been aware of the importance of the ICT sector, which empowers the digital economy that supports ICT projects as part of the Vision 2030,鈥 said Majid bin Mohammed Al-Mazyad, deputy governor of the Communication and Information Technology Commission for infrastructure and technology, and head of the Saudi delegation.
Al-Mazyad demonstrated some of Vision 2030鈥檚 programs that have relevant strategic goals. These include: Infrastructure development, advancing broadband solutions and promoting innovation in advanced technologies.
鈥淭he Saudi ICT market is the region鈥檚 largest telecommunications market,鈥 he said. 鈥淎round $35 billion was spent on telecommunications and information technology services in 2016, with a growth rate of more than 8 percent compared to 2015.鈥
The WTDC is one of the main conferences of the ITU and is held once every four years. This year, more than 1,400 experts from 134 countries participated in the conference.
