July 2, 2025: Iran formally suspends cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, days after the IAEA chief Grossi warned of possible renewed uranium enrichment. Tehran’s FM Araqchi confirms major damage to the Fordow nuclear site from US strikes.

June 25, 2025: Israel and Iran both declare victory. While US intelligence suggests Iran’s underground nuclear sites survived the strikes, American and Israeli officials claim the program was “thwarted.” Iran’s parliament approves a bill suspending cooperation with the IAEA.

June 23-24, 2025: Following Iran’s strike on the US base at Al Udeid in Qatar, US President Trump announces a “complete and total ceasefire”, calling it the “official end” of the 12-day war. Despite initial violations and Trump’s fiery remarks, both sides say they will uphold the truce “as long as the other does.”

June 21-22, 2025: Iranian President Pezeshkian says Tehran is “ready for talks” but won’t halt nuclear activity. Despite intel showing Iran isn’t close to a bomb, the US launches overnight “bunker buster” strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities. Iran warns of “everlasting consequences.” Trump says: “Iran must now make peace.” 

June 20, 2025: As the conflict enters its second week, European and Iranian foreign ministers meet in Geneva. Tehran says it won’t rejoin talks with the US while under Israeli attack.

June 18-19, 2025: Trump signals possible American involvement, demanding Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and threatening Iran supreme leader Khamenei. Iran vows to resist. Israel’s defense minister says the Ayatollah “can no longer be allowed to exist” after a missile hits Soroka Hospital.

June 16-17, 2025: Iranian missiles hit Tel Aviv and Haifa, killing eight people and damaging the US Embassy. Tehran claims it struck Israeli intelligence sites, though officials decline to comment. Israel says it has gained air superiority, killed commander Ali Shadmani, and hit Iran’s state broadcaster.

June 14-15, 2025: Iran begins retaliation with missile and drone strikes, while Israel expands its bombing campaign to include Iran’s energy and goverment sites. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu urges Iranians to “stand up for your freedom.” Planned US-Iran nuclear talks in Oman called off.

June 13, 2025: Following a report by IAEA declaring Iran in breach of its non-proliferation obligations, Israel launches sweeping attacks on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure, using warplanes and drones smuggled into the country. Several leading Iranian generals and nuclear scientists are killed.

Oct. 26, 2024: Israel conducts its first open strikes against targets in Iran, including air defenses, drone facilities and missile-related sites.

Oct. 1, 2024: Iran launches second direct strike on Israel, claiming it to be an act of self-defense following the assassinations of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas’ Ismail Haniyeh.

Sept. 27, 2024: Nasrallah is killed by Israeli airstrike in Beirut. The Lebanese group, which is backed by Iran, accuses Israel of escalating regional conflict. Two months earlier, Haniyeh is killed in an apparent Israeli airstrike in Tehran. 

April 14, 2024: In retaliation, Iran launches a massive attack on Israel using more than 300 missiles and drones, its first-ever direct assault on Israeli territory, most of which are intercepted by Israel’s defense system.

April 1, 2024: Israeli airstrike destroys Iran’s consulate in Damascus, killing 16 people, including two senior Iranian generals.

Oct. 7, 2023: Hamas launches unprecedented attack against Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 250 hostage. Israel responds with force. Iran, which armed Hamas, pledges support for the militants.
