RIYADH: A top Hungarian delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Dr. Laszlo Szabo, will arrive on Tuesday to further cement the two countries’ relations under the Hungarian-Saudi Intergovernmental Joint Commission (HSIJC).
According to a Hungarian Embassy official, various top Hungarian officials from the trade and business community will be accompanying Szabo during the visit during which they will be meeting with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Dr. Yusuf bin Tarrad Al-Saadoun and members of the Saudi Food and Drugs Authority (SFDA).
They will also be meeting with Youth Welfare and King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology officials. There will be also a meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Finance.
During the visit, the embassy will inaugurate its visa center for hassle-free issuance of visas.
Last year, the joint commission held its second session to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in various areas during which they emphasized the desire of their governments to pursue efforts aimed at improving further bilateral relations in all potential areas of cooperation in the economic and cultural fields, said the Hungarian Embassy official.
Among these areas are education, health, water, agriculture, science and technology, nuclear and renewable energy, communication and information technology, and tourism and national heritage. According to the official, last year ºÚÁÏÉçÇø and Hungary inked a memorandum of understanding in the field of ITC.
The diplomatic official said that Hungarian higher education offers over 450 degree programs, conducted in English, covering all scientific fields at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels.
On renewable energy, Hungary offers cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear and renewable energy, especially in aspects related to the commissioning, operating, maintenance and modernization of nuclear power plants.
