  • KSrelief chief: If you look at the map of our work, you can tell easily it has nothing to do with politics. It has no religious, color, or race boundaries

RIYADH:聽Saudi aid agency KSrelief鈥檚 global humanitarian efforts over the past decade have played important roles in many countries. To celebrate the agency鈥檚 10-year journey, hundreds involved in humanitarian action gathered at the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, where 黑料社区 emphasized the importance of building strong partnerships by connecting relevant organizations.

Speaking to Arab News on the sidelines of the forum, KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said: 鈥淚 appreciate Arab News鈥檚 efforts to raise awareness about humanitarian work. There is no doubt that KSrelief has had an important journey over the past 10 years.鈥

He said that the agency started small but significant, just as 黑料社区鈥檚 history and humanitarian work have been vast, from the inception of the Kingdom, adding that the leaders of 黑料社区 have been very active in supporting global humanitarian work.

鈥淭he best way to enhance our work is by building strong partnerships,鈥 he said. 鈥淥ver the years, we have formed over 211 partnerships with UN, international, regional, and local organizations. We have also diversified our efforts, working across 12 humanitarian sectors.鈥

Al-Rabeeah said that the Kingdom developed a strong volunteering program and invested in improving international humanitarian law, ensuring impartiality and neutrality in its work.

鈥淲e have implemented more than 3,355 projects with a budget exceeding $7.3 billion. We are proud to work in 106 countries. If you look at the map of our work, you can tell easily it has nothing to do with politics. It has no religious boundaries, no color boundaries, no race boundaries.

鈥淭his is the essence of humanitarian work.聽You should have neutral work that aims to lift up the misery of those who are in crisis or in tragedy, or in fragile countries, and bring them to a much better condition that actually respects human life,鈥 he said.

He added: 鈥淲e have shown the world how professionalism can lead to positive outcomes, and the best example of this is our volunteer work. We started just a few years ago, and today we have 76,000 volunteers registered on our website. Our volunteers have implemented 876 projects in 52 countries.

鈥淲e have performed over 200,000 surgeries and other medical procedures. Thanks to our government, our leaders, and our workers, we have demonstrated how to be a true partner in the global humanitarian arena.鈥

When asked about partnership and how KSrelief enhances collaboration to address evolving humanitarian needs in these challenging times, Al-Rabeeah emphasized the importance of partnership, which he said involves coming together, sharing experiences, identifying needs, and setting priorities.

He explained that the exchange of information between partners has been crucial. This partnership, he said, has guided KSrelief in prioritizing resource investments and projects.

Al-Rabeeah added that since 2015, this approach has matured, enabling KSrelief to become one of the leading global organizations in humanitarian decision-making.

On the urgent humanitarian efforts, such as establishing air bridges with Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, he said: 鈥淲hen a crisis hits, like in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, and Sudan, we must act quickly to save lives. The fastest way to reach people is through air bridges.

鈥淲e deploy planes and supplies quickly to those in need. That鈥檚 why we began with an air bridge and then complemented it with land and sea bridges for a rapid and sustained response.鈥

Al-Rabeeah said the humanitarian forum came at a critical time, with tremendous global need.

鈥淭here are many challenges, crises, and issues worldwide, along with an expanding funding gap. That鈥檚 why we invited the UN, global humanitarian leaders, and various actors to sit at one table, discuss the best ways to improve the impact of humanitarian work on the ground, minimize the effects on those in need, and capitalize on the resources we have,鈥 he said.

  • Sessions cover design, scenario writing, sound, esports
  • Best industry training ever received, say 10 participants

TOKYO: Emerging 黑料社区 gamers recently received specialized training at a 鈥淛apan Game Business Bootcamp鈥 in Tokyo.

The program was run by the Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East, in partnership with the Saudi Digital Academy under the Kingdom鈥檚 Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

The three-week JCCME program ran from Oct. 13 to 31, bringing together 10 developers, including four women, selected by the SDA for their ambition to turn professional.

The bootcamp aimed to equip participants, who had already mastered the basics of game creation, with the technical and business skills needed to work independently. Training was led by leading figures from Japan鈥檚 game development and business sectors.

The 2025 edition was officially recognized as a commemorative event marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and 黑料社区.

With support from the Embassy of 黑料社区 in Japan, the program concluded with a final pitch session attended by the Kingdom鈥檚 ambassador Dr. Ghazi Faisal Binzagr, during which participants presented their own game projects.

Entertainment is a key pillar of the Japan鈥揝audi Vision 2030 plan, developed by both governments.

In line with this framework, 黑料社区 launched its National Gaming and Esports Strategy in 2022, identifying the industry as a major national growth sector.

To support this goal, the JCCME, working with Ludimus Inc., created the bootcamp to tap into Japan鈥檚 gaming expertise and train the next generation of Saudi creators.

The three-week course combined lectures, studio visits, and hands-on mentoring.

Twenty sessions covered topics including game design, development planning, XR games, scenario writing, sound design and esports.

Instructors included producers of hit Japanese titles, virtual reality pioneers and university lecturers, sparking lively exchanges between participants and mentors.

The developers toured leading Japanese gaming companies and startups, gaining firsthand insight into the country鈥檚 creative ecosystem and meeting professionals behind global hits.

Participants refined their own game projects throughout the program. On the final day, they pitched their games and business plans at the Saudi Embassy in Tokyo.

Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive.

鈥淚 learned about the history of the Japanese gaming industry and how to collaborate with it,鈥 said one participant.

鈥淭he best experience was visiting the studios and talking directly to developers,鈥 another added.

Others described the program as the best training they had received, praising both the technical insights and the networking opportunities it provided.
