RIYADH: The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology has made a notable research breakthrough, developing a new composite material that improves the efficiency and lifespans of the cells used in solar panels through cooling.</p>
<p>
The new technology has the potential to cut down the maintenance cost of solar cells, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Companies that put solar panels on US homes say a Republican budget bill advanced in Congress this week would deal a massive blow to the industry by eliminating a generous subsidy for homeowners that had buttressed the industry鈥檚 growth.<br />

MADRID: The UAE鈥檚 renewable energy company Masdar is seeking more opportunities in Europe鈥檚 green energy sector and will consider both minority investments and controlling stakes, its CFO said, following a deal last week with Spain鈥檚 Endesa.</p>
