RIYADH: A falcon was sold for SR351,000 ($93,590) at the 25th Saudi Falcons Club Auction, making it the third most expensive falcon sold to date at this year鈥檚 event.

Held at the club鈥檚 headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh, the auction serves as the primary marketplace for locally bred falcons, coinciding with the annual trapping season, which runs until Nov. 30.

The event reinforces the Kingdom鈥檚 cultural identity, facilitates the transfer of falconry expertise to new generations, and provides an economic resource for the hundreds of participating falconers.
