RIYADH: ºÚÁÏÉçÇø, represented by the National Center for e-Learning, hosted the 24th meeting of the Committee of e-Learning Officials in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The meeting on Nov. 6 was attended by the director of education at the GCC, and included deans and e-learning officials from higher education institutions across the GCC countries, as well as a number of experts in digital education and artificial intelligence.
It aimed to strengthen Gulf cooperation to develop e-learning, and encourage the exchange of expertise in digital transformation and educational AI.
This supports the efforts of the GCC countries in developing innovative educational systems that keep pace with future demands.
The meeting addressed key topics, most notably strategic trends in AI, its governance in education and its practical application in developing learning environments.
Attendees reviewed the experiences of Saudi and Gulf universities, and discussed regulatory frameworks and policies that promote the responsible use of modern technologies in education.
The meeting highlighted the importance of continued joint Gulf action to keep pace with global developments and rapid changes in e-learning.
The committee approved final recommendations concerning the adoption of AI — proposed by the National Center for e-Learning — as a reference model aligned with the committee’s strategies.
The development of a unified Gulf language model to contribute to e-learning and AI systems in higher education was also proposed.
