Charity launches exhibition showcasing 黑料社区鈥檚 rich history of serving pilgrims
  • Hadiyah Charity Association says event reflects its deep sense of pride in the Kingdom鈥檚 longstanding dedication to caring for visitors to holy sites

RIYADH: A new exhibition celebrating 黑料社区鈥檚 rich history of serving pilgrims opened in Makkah on Monday. Organized by the Hadiyah Charity Association, it also showcases ongoing projects that aim to enhance the pilgrimage services the Kingdom provides.

The country鈥檚 extensive efforts to serve Hajj and Umrah pilgrims date back to the era of King Abdulaziz and continue through the current reign of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, organizers said.

Hatem Al-Marzouki, chairperson of Hadiyah鈥檚 board of directors, said the exhibition reflects the association鈥檚 deep sense of pride in the Kingdom鈥檚 longstanding dedication to serving the two holy mosques and caring for visitors, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Several major projects in recent years have expanded the capacity of the mosques, provided new accommodation and expanded catering options to better serve the huge numbers of pilgrims who visit the sites each year. Premium amenities are also now available to pilgrims who seek greater comfort, safety and accessibility, including specialized tents and gourmet meals, alongside personal care kits and 24/7 medical support.

New services are regularly introduced. In August, for example, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched the digital Nusuk Umrah service, which enables pilgrims living outside the Kingdom to directly apply for an Umrah visa and book services online without having to use intermediaries.

Al-Marzouki acknowledged the crucial support the Saudi leadership provides to the nonprofit sector, which he said enables organizations to fulfill their missions and make a difference to society.

The exhibition is open to representatives of governmental institutions, civil organizations, private-sector entities, and professionals from the Hajj and Umrah sector. Anyone interested in visiting can register and make arrangements through Hadiyah鈥檚 communications department.

  • Mentioned in Hadith literature as having mental and physical benefits, Talbinah is regaining popularity
  • Scientific studies show that the dish can increase serotonin more than other carbohydrate-based foods

RIYADH: Talbinah, the traditional porridge made from barley flour, milk, and honey, is said to have been recommended by the Prophet Muhammad, having benefits for both the body and mind.

Despite its simple ingredients, the dish is a balanced mix of natural ingredients said to have profound healing properties, according to the Hadith.

Its main ingredient, barley, is rich in soluble fibers, vitamins (especially B-complex), minerals and active compounds that support overall health.

In recent years, Talbinah has gained popularity, especially among health enthusiasts, boasting numerous scientifically backed benefits that have piqued consumer interest, particularly in the Middle East.

For Muslims, Talbinah is cherished as a nourishing and comforting food.

Abigayle Andre, a TikToker from the UK who converted to Islam, recently shared her Talbinah recipe with her followers.

鈥淚 wanted to cook it because I am a convert to Islam and it is a Sunnah dish 鈥 one that isn鈥檛 widely known in the UK but comes with many health benefits.

鈥淥ur Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said it helps with depression. Many struggle with mental health, and I wanted to share this recipe to help others and revive a Sunnah.鈥

鈥淚t tastes like smooth porridge, reminiscent of traditional English breakfast porridge made from oats and milk 鈥 wholesome, easy to prepare, and incredibly comforting.鈥

Andre explained to Arab News: 鈥淚 enjoy trying Sunnah foods as they connect me to our Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). Knowing he enjoyed Talbinah and Thareed, I wanted to honor him through these dishes.鈥

Until recently, Talbinah was rarely found in restaurants or health food stores. However, it has surged in popularity, driven by a global trend toward natural and organic foods.

With the rise of preventive nutrition, Talbinah is increasingly featured in digital content, packaged products and innovative recipes.

Dr. Zahra鈥檃 Al-Ahmed, specialist in public nutrition, notes: 鈥淩esearch suggests that Talbinah may have antidepressant-like effects, boost mental health, enhance nutritional status, and uplift mood.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great source of essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, including iron and zinc.鈥

Studies, including a 2013 paper in clinical interventions in aging from the National University of Malaysia and An Najah National University, show that Talbinah contains compounds that may help produce serotonin more than other carbohydrate-based foods.

Rich in soluble fibers known as beta-glucans, Talbinah can also help lower cholesterol levels.

It also slows glucose absorption, making it a good choice for those monitoring blood sugar.

Its dietary fibers improve bowel movement and nourish beneficial gut bacteria, alleviating digestive issues.

Additionally, antioxidants and minerals like zinc and magnesium in Talbinah bolster immune function and enhance disease resistance.

One notable example of Talbinah鈥檚 revival comes from Saweeg in Al-Madinah, which has developed a unique Talbinah-flavored ice cream, a modern creation that merges health benefits with innovation.

This ice cream has generated buzz on social media, redefining Talbinah as a contemporary food ingredient.

Today, Talbinah is available in health stores, major supermarkets, and online retailers like Amazon, Noon and iHerb, as well as specialty stores like Saweeg, which offer modern Talbinah products.

Instant Talbinah powders are also available in flavors like cinnamon, vanilla or date for quick preparation.

Talbinah can be enjoyed as a warm morning drink, a cold pudding with fruits, or even as a unique ice cream flavor. It can be made at home or purchased ready-made.

With growing awareness of nutrition鈥檚 impact on mental and physical health, Talbinah stands out as a nourishing choice.

For Muslims, it holds a special place as a comfort food, exemplifying how a return to traditional roots can also be a step forward in today鈥檚 health-conscious society.

  • The US president unveils his 20-point proposal following talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House
  • The Arab and Muslim ministers say they welcome Trump鈥檚 鈥渟incere efforts鈥 and are confident in his ability to 鈥渇ind a path to peace鈥 in the region

RIYADH: Foreign ministers from 黑料社区, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Qatar and Egypt expressed support for a peace plan to end the war in Gaza unveiled by US President Donald Trump on Monday.

He announced his proposal during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following talks between the two leaders at the White House.

The Arab and Muslim ministers issued a joint statement in which they welcomed Trump鈥檚 鈥渟incere efforts鈥 and voiced confidence in his ability to 鈥渇ind a path to peace鈥 in the region.

They highlighted the importance of working in partnership with Washington in pursuit of peace, describing the proposal as a chance to advance a comprehensive settlement, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The plan offers a framework for stability, they added.

The proposal, contained in a 20-point document released by the White House, includes a ceasefire agreement, an exchange of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the disarmament of Hamas, and the reconstruction of Gaza with the assistance of the international community.

Humanitarian aid would be allowed to flow into Gaza in large amounts, with relief efforts run by 鈥渘eutral international bodies鈥 including the UN and Red Crescent. There would be no forced displacement of Palestinians from the territory.

The US would work with Arab and other international partners to create a transitional authority to oversee security in Gaza. The internationally recognized Palestinian Authority would initially have a limited 鈥渞epresentative鈥 role in this, and would be expected to commit to reforms before its role can be expanded, with the aim of it eventually being able to govern.

Though the proposal refers to the ultimate possibility of 鈥渁 credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood,鈥 the details of this were vague.

Netanyahu said he backed Trump鈥檚 plan. However, some elements seem to contradict the previously stated views of his government, in particular those related to the possibility of the Palestinian Authority eventually governing Gaza.

The plan also requires agreement from Hamas, which would be required to voluntarily disarm, effectively surrendering. Trump warned that should the group reject the deal, he could give Israeli authorities even more of a free hand to continue their military campaign in the war-ravaged territory.

In addition to backing Trump鈥檚 Gaza peace plan, the Arab and Muslim foreign ministers also welcomed the president鈥檚 pledge to block any attempt by Israel to annex the West Bank as a significant step.

The ministers outlined a series of commitments they believe to be essential for lasting peace, many of which were covered by Trump鈥檚 plan: efforts to ensure sufficient humanitarian aid reaches Gaza free from obstruction; the prevention of forced displacement of Palestinians; the release of hostages; establishment of a security mechanism for all parties; and a guarantee of full Israeli withdrawal from the territory.

They added that reconstruction of Gaza, and progress towards a two-state solution to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, in which Gaza and the West Bank form part of a fully sovereign Palestinian state, were 鈥渢he key to achieving regional stability and security.鈥
