MOGADISHU: Saudi aid agency KSrelief recently distributed 670 food baskets to needy families in various regions of Somalia. The initiative, which benefited 4,555 individuals, is part of the 2025 food aid distribution project in the African country, which is part of the Kingdom鈥檚 humanitarian efforts to help the Somali people achieve food security.

KSrelief also recently launched a volunteer project to deliver training courses for administrative staff in Aden, Yemen, with the participation of seven volunteers from various disciplines. Since the launch of the campaign, the team has delivered courses in human resources management, project management, strategic planning and financial reporting, benefiting 137 individuals.

MAKKAH: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah region has concluded a training workshop on basic first aid skills for staff at the Grand Mosque.

The workshop benefited more than 3,860 trainees and included theoretical and practical sessions on responding to common emergency situations such as fainting, shortness of breath, bleeding, and minor injuries, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Participants also received hands-on training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators.

The authority ensured that the program was delivered in Arabic and Urdu, communicating essential information to staff of various nationalities to enhance their readiness to respond to emergencies.

Sami Al-Harbi, director of corporate communications at the authority, said the film showcases stunning panoramic footage of the Al-Arma Mountains, featuring insights from experts and researchers who discuss its particular environmental and historical significance.

He added that the film will air on Thaqafiya Channel and be available on the Shahid platform.

Al-Harbi said that this media production was part of the authority鈥檚 efforts to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable ecotourism, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

According to SPA, this initiative reflects the organizing authorities鈥 commitment to enhancing participation from various community sectors and providing an enabling environment for developing small and medium-sized enterprises.

The two-month initiative operates daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., targeting job market entry for Saudi youth through accessible commercial opportunities. The program allows emerging entrepreneurs and startup founders to tap into the foot traffic at the popular seasonal dates market while engaging directly with consumers.

According to Ayman bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, regional director general of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture: 鈥淭he 900-square-meter tent represents part of a broader seasonal markets framework. The system seeks to streamline dates commerce while maintaining transaction efficiency through comprehensive electronic documentation 鈥 a move designed to ensure transparency and protect the interests of farmers, brokers and buyers alike.鈥 

According to SPA, the free retail spaces enable youth and family-run businesses to participate in the seasonal economy, Al-Sayed said. Participants can showcase varied product lines, potentially increasing household incomes while strengthening their role in the local economy.

For visitors, the market offers access to authentic regional products known for their quality and diversity, creating an enhanced shopping experience that supports domestic production.
