RIYADH: Eid Al-Fitr, a highlight of the Islamic calendar that marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramadan, is being celebrated with religious fervor and joy as聽黑料社区 led worldwide celebrations with Eid prayers on Sunday morning.

Many Arab countries, including 黑料社区, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, celebrating Eid Al-Fitr were joined by Muslims in Europe and the US, while several other countries 鈥 among them Oman, Jordan, Syria, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia 鈥攁nnounced that the holiday will begin on Monday.

The variation, common in the lunar Hijri calendar, is the result of differences in moon sightings that determine the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting and spiritual reflection observed by Muslims worldwide.

Eid Al-Fitr 鈥 the annual Islamic celebration that runs for the first five days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Hijri calendar 鈥 began on Sunday with early morning Eid prayers, 15 minutes after sunrise in accordance with the Umm Al-Qura calendar.

Anticipating the Eid prayer, worshippers in the pre-dawn hours filled designated prayer halls and mosques prepared in cities, governorates, and villages throughout the Kingdom.

King Salman performed Eid Al-Fitr prayers at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. Joining him were several princes and senior officials, who conveyed their congratulations on the joyous occasion of Eid, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman performed Eid prayers with worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

Thousands of Muslims filled the Grand Mosque and the Prophet鈥檚 Mosque in Madinah for the Eid Al-Fitr prayer in an atmosphere of faith, joy, security and tranquility.

The imam of the Grand Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, led the prayer and delivered a sermon, extending his congratulations on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

Madinah Governor Prince Salman bin Sultan performed the Eid Al-Fitr prayer at the Prophet鈥檚 Mosque with crowds of worshippers on Sunday morning, where the mosque鈥檚 imam, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Buaijan, led the prayer and delivered a sermon.

Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud extended the greetings of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to ministry employees on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, and expressed their appreciation to all security sectors for their exceptional efforts and dedication.

Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman was at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah to receive commanders and senior officials from the ministry, while Minister of National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz was in Jeddah to receive commanders of the ministry along with senior civil and military officials. The ministers conveyed greetings from the king and the crown prince to the officials for their services to the nation.

There were 122,286,712 visitors to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet鈥檚 Mosque in Madinah during Ramadan, according to the CEO of the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet鈥檚 Mosque, Ghazi Al-Shahrani.

Al-Shahrani said the number of Umrah performers was 16,558,241, while worshippers totaled 92,132,169 at the Grand Mosque and 30,154,543 at the Prophet鈥檚 Mosque.

He expressed his congratulations to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, and聽also his gratitude to all who contributed to serving the guests of God.

With the Eid Al-Fitr prayer over, worshippers exchanged celebratory greetings.

鈥淭he week-long festivity, with the culmination of the fasting month of Ramadan and the beginning of the Eid holidays, has ushered in the most festive celebration in the Islamic calendar as families organize get-together meetings and feasts, and people exchange greetings offering presents and delicacies,鈥 Sara Aldossary, a Riyadh resident, told Arab News.

鈥淭he dawn of Eid Al-Fitr in 黑料社区 is a time of vibrant tradition and heartwarming connection. As worshippers rise between Fajr and Eid prayers, a special atmosphere fills the air, where warm greetings are exchanged, homes are adorned with festive displays, children gleam in new clothing, and Eid gifts are lovingly prepared for awaiting guests. The aroma of traditional dishes mingles with fragrant incense, and colorful decorations create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors on this special occasion,鈥 she added.

鈥淥n this biggest festive occasion, we get together with our relatives and friends to enjoy it together. This evening some of my friends are coming to our house for the celebration. We will also visit them the next day and this will continue during the holiday continuing until the next weekend. We exchange greetings, share presents and delicacies. Some families also go out to picnic spots and spend time together,鈥 said Bilal Ahmed, a Jubail resident.

鈥淓id is a time of joy, gratitude and togetherness with your loved ones. One of the most beloved Eid Al-Fitr customs is exchanging Eid gifts, or Eidiyah, as a sincere way to express gratitude and love to family and friends,鈥 said Alaa Alshammari, a Riyadh resident.

Comprehensive civil and security arrangements are in place for the annual festival to be safely enjoyed.

The capital has been adorned with special decorative arrangements, including banners bearing 鈥淓id Saeed鈥 on main roads in the city greeting passersby.

The Saudi General Entertainment Authority has unveiled a nationwide celebration featuring concerts, theatrical performances, fireworks, and a variety of activities across the Kingdom鈥檚 entertainment zones, offering unforgettable experiences for residents and visitors on Eid Al-Fitr.

Musical concerts will take place in Riyadh, Shaqra, Abha, Qassim, Jeddah, and Eastern Region cities, while theatrical productions will take center stage in Riyadh (April 1-19), Jeddah (April 1-6), and Dammam (April 1-3).

Fireworks will illuminate the sky at 9 p.m. in key locations, including Boulevard World in Riyadh, Jeddah Art Promenade, Alkhobar Corniche, and Arruddaf Park in Taif.

Eid celebrations kicked off on Day 1 at Riyadh鈥檚 Boulevard City, Boulevard World, VIA Riyadh, and Jeddah Art Promenade, with City Hub in Alkhobar hosting festivities on Day 2, providing diverse and family-friendly entertainment.

Streets in major cities including Riyadh and Jeddah have been decorated with colorful lights to celebrate the annual event.

RIYADH: The Heritage Commission will organize the International Restoration Week exhibition from Oct.1-5 in the Jax district of Diriyah.

The event will bring together leading local and international institutions specializing in restoration and the preservation of urban heritage, to exchange expertise and strengthen cooperation by demonstrating the latest practices and technologies in conserving historic buildings and sites, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The exhibition is as part of Heritage Commission efforts to protect and develop 黑料社区鈥檚 urban heritage 鈥 there are more than 34,000 heritage assets recorded in the National Urban Heritage Register.

The commission also seeks to raise awareness of restoration as an integrated process that safeguards historic sites and cultural identity while supporting their sustainable development in line with contemporary needs.

Various organizations, institutions, and companies from at least 12 countries are expected to take part in the event.

The Heritage Commission said the International Restoration Week is a specialized platform for cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of urban heritage conservation.

It further reflects the Kingdom鈥檚 commitment to advancing restoration standards in line with global best practices and strengthening its position in cultural heritage preservation.

RIYADH: Experts, legal professionals and academics from across the Kingdom and beyond will converge in Riyadh on Sept. 28-29 for the seventh Saudi Law Conference.

Themed 鈥淭he Future of Legal Systems in the Age of Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainability,鈥 the two-day event will examine how AI and digital transformation are reshaping legal systems worldwide, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Minister of Justice Dr. Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani will headline the opening ceremony, bringing his dual roles as president of the Supreme Judicial Council and chairman of the Saudi Bar Association board of directors.

His participation signals the government鈥檚 recognition that legal frameworks must evolve rapidly to accommodate digital transformations and global changes while strengthening cooperation between legal, academic and professional institutions to support legislative development in the Kingdom.

This gathering represents a cornerstone of 黑料社区鈥檚 strategy to modernize its legal and regulatory framework as outlined in Vision 2030, providing a forum for examining the profound changes reshaping the legal profession and addressing both the obstacles and possibilities created by emerging technologies and environmental imperatives.

RIYADH: The Digital Technical College for Girls in Riyadh has launched the Saudi OpenSource 2025 hackathon under the slogan 鈥淥ne programmer for every 100 Saudis 鈥 Towards an Innovative Digital Future.鈥

The hackathon was launched in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Department at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, and the Digital Government Authority, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The hackathon鈥檚 slogan reflects the ambition to build a digital generation equipped to lead the Kingdom鈥檚 technical transformation.

It offers two tracts for participation: the first focuses on developing alternative open-source products, while the second centers around the development of existing government products.

Each track presents several challenges, with each team selecting only one challenge to address, delivering specialized solutions that advance the government鈥檚 digital transformation.

The hackathon is open to a wide range of national talent, targeting students from Saudi public and private universities from various technical disciplines, as well as trainees from technical and vocational training institutes and colleges throughout the Kingdom.

This ensures a rich diversity of ideas and proposed solutions.

The timing of the hackathon鈥檚 launch coincided with the 95th National Day and Software Freedom Day, bridging the heritage of the past with the ambitions of the future.

NEW YORK: Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, general supervisor of the Saudi aid agency KSrelief, met with Save the Children International CEO Inger Ashing at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City on Tuesday. 

The organizations signed an agreement to establish a strategic partnership that will focus on cooperation in humanitarian aid, relief, and volunteer work, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The officials also discussed ongoing humanitarian and relief projects focused on supporting children worldwide and providing them with essential aid.

RIYADH: Thirty 黑料社区 university graduates arrived in London on Monday for an Artificial Intelligence Engineering Bootcamp, a collaboration between the Saudi Data and AI Authority and the University of Oxford, running until Oct. 9.

The program targets those with bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in AI and computer science, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with frameworks including TensorFlow and PyTorch, and technologies covering YOLO and Hugging Face. (SPA)

The course provides advanced skills in computer vision, deep learning, and generative models under the guidance of international experts.

The first phase of the boot camp was conducted remotely, while the second and final three-week portion is held at Oxford University.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with frameworks including TensorFlow and PyTorch, and technologies covering YOLO and Hugging Face.
