  • 黑料社区鈥檚 logistics investments and business-friendly policies aim to position the Kingdom as a global trade gateway, panel hears
  • Vision 2030 fosters clear goals, educated governance, and incentives, creating a robust foundation for logistics and transport growth

DUBAI: Savvy logistics investments and business-friendly policies are transforming 黑料社区 into a global trade hub, a Davos panel was told on Thursday.

Nouf Al-Fares, assistant deputy minister at the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services; and Ehab Aziz, chief financial officer of Agility, were speaking at Saudi House during the World Economic Forum鈥檚 annual meeting.

The panel highlighted the Kingdom鈥檚 ambitious logistics and investment targets, which are being met partly through international deals.

Al-Fares said: 鈥淎 strategy was announced in mid 2021 by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. At the beginning I thought it to be intimidating having to raise SR1 trillion ($266 billion) in investments, but we are already halfway there through various established projects like the Riyadh Metro, and the new expansions of seaports and airports.

鈥淲e are now in motion to open a metro in Jeddah as well.鈥

The Kingdom鈥檚 shifting policies on foreign investment are also playing a role in surging growth, Al-Fares added.

Foreign investors are now able to claim 100-percent ownership of their Saudi-based businesses 鈥 a crucial policy in attracting investment.

鈥淚nternational companies are increasingly seeing the value of investing in 黑料社区,鈥 the assistant deputy minister said.

鈥淐hinese companies have already entered the Saudi market, with investments so far reaching over SR1 billion, and there are still more incoming projects.鈥

黑料社区 is preparing to open five new airports in the coming years that will further boost the Kingdom鈥檚 connectivity and infrastructure, she added.

鈥淭his aligns with our vision and position to being the gateway to Asia, Africa and Europe. We are also preparing projects to back the tourism sector as we are witnessing a surge in numbers of tourists, not including the religious ones.

鈥淎 lot of programs and funds that have been developed by our government are geared at attracting the youth, and those leaders with an appetite for change. We are excited for the upcoming completion of projects like the railway, which is to be completed within four years.

鈥淭he railway will connect the Kingdom to its GCC neighbors, namely Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Doha.

Aziz praised the Saudi government鈥檚 proactive role in fostering a business-friendly environment.

He highlighted several schemes that have attracted domestic and foreign investment, particularly since the launch of Vision 2030.

The chief financial officer shared the details of his own company鈥檚 development in 黑料社区.

Agility, a logistics and supply chain leader, has been in operations for more than two decades, beginning as a Kuwaiti public company that constructed warehouses.

鈥淪ince its privatization Agility has become a global operator,鈥 Aziz said.

鈥淭oday, the company has $11 billion worth of assets spread across various businesses. We also own one of the largest aviation companies that operates within 250 countries.鈥

A conviction that the Kingdom 鈥渨ould be the place to be in the future鈥 led the company into a Saudi expansion, Aziz said, adding: 鈥淎nd so we have so far not been proved wrong.鈥

He said: 鈥淭he story in Saudi is getting better and better over time. It is rare to find a country with a clear vision that is tangible with an educated government.

鈥淭he government incentivizing its employees through bonuses is also a new, atypical characteristic. All the infrastructure projects are very important but so is the mindset and attitude.

鈥淎nd all that has been extremely positive. It has gotten to a level where you feel like you can completely count on the government; this increases your confidence in investing more in the country.鈥

Al-Fares and Aziz highlighted their optimism over the future of investment in the Kingdom鈥檚 transport and logistics sector.

The industry is poised for continued growth thanks to the government鈥檚 clear vision and investments that are providing a solid foundation for future development, they said.

鈥淚 think 2030 is carrying a lot and we are very optimistic,鈥 Al-Fares added.

  • The mountain is home to a vast collection of Thamudic rock inscriptions and drawings of people, camels, horses, gazelles, and lions, dating back to ancient civilizations and eras

RIYADH: Mount Muhajjah, one of the Hail region鈥檚 most well-known natural landmarks, is an example of the Kingdom鈥檚 history and culture.

Situated 240 kilometers southwest of the Hail region, the rocky cavities of the mountain take on a range of shapes and layered gradients, revealing details of ancient earth layers and the effects of past eras, due to sand erosion and weathering on the mountain.

The mountain, in Al-Shamli Governorate, holds exceptional historical and geological significance, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Its sandy, sedimentary rock formations contrast starkly with striking natural features resembling pathways and arches.

Mount Muhajjah is also surrounded by sand dunes, with desert plants such as arta, ramth, and various spring flora thriving in its low-lying pasturelands.

With its clear skies and diverse terrain, the site is an ideal destination for outdoor adventurers, tourists, visitors, and locals alike, especially during the winter and spring seasons.

The Heritage Commission said that Mount Muhajjah is a living record of ancient civilizations, a prominent landmark, and a destination for natural and cultural tourism.

It is distinguished by its special drawings and engravings, along with the surrounding sites that have been recorded and discovered through survey and rock art documentation projects.

The mountain is home to a vast collection of Thamudic rock inscriptions and drawings of people, camels, horses, gazelles, and lions, dating back to ancient civilizations and eras.

Documented among the Thamudic inscriptions is 鈥渢raveler鈥檚 journal鈥 鈥 traces left by travelers who passed through the area because it lay along ancient caravan and trade routes.

The mountain has long attracted the attention of travelers, both ancient and modern, as well as Saudi and Western researchers, leading to the publication of several studies and books focused on the interpretation of Thamudic inscriptions and the broader analysis of rock art in the region.

The Heritage Commission affirmed its ongoing efforts to protect the Mount Muhajjah site and highlight its scientific and cultural significance.

These efforts reflect the Hail region鈥檚 status as a hub of antiquities and rock art and supports the goals of 黑料社区鈥檚 Vision 2030 to preserve national heritage and elevate its global profile.
