DUBAI: As 黑料社区 cements its position as a global centre for luxury, the Kingdom鈥檚 burgeoning fashion market is capturing the attention of high-end retailers worldwide.

Mytheresa, one of the leading luxury e-commerce platforms, is at the forefront of this shift, catering to a growing and increasingly discerning Saudi clientele.

Michael Kliger, CEO of Mytheresa, revealed how the brand is evolving alongside the Kingdom鈥檚 dynamic landscape, with a focus on personalization and cultural connection.听

鈥淲e鈥檙e witnessing incredible changes in the Saudi market,鈥 Kliger said. 鈥淢ore Saudis are staying in the region, with some even moving back permanently, which has created a significant increase in local demand for luxury fashion.

鈥淓vents like weddings and receptions have always been important here, but now, with cinemas and fine dining experiences becoming more common, there are even more occasions for people to dress up.鈥

While Mytheresa does not yet have a physical presence in 黑料社区, its strategy focuses on creating meaningful connections with local clients.

鈥淲e host a variety of events to engage directly with our Saudi customers,鈥 Kliger said. 鈥淩ecently, we had a dinner at Hia Hub in Riyadh with the designers of Oscar de la Renta, and in Jeddah, one of our clients hosted 100 of her friends for us at a hotel. These gatherings, along with style suites where customers can try curated collections, allow us to bring the Mytheresa experience to them in a personal and exclusive way.鈥澨

Additionally, the e-tailer frequently collaborates with local creatives to create authentic connections with their customers. Kliger said that understanding the timing of local events and traditions, such as Ramadan and other festive gatherings, is essential. He highlighted the importance of working with local influencers and ambassadors to ensure the brand鈥檚 messaging feels genuine and accessible, making it easier for Saudi customers to engage with Mytheresa.

Personalization too, is at the heart of Mytheresa鈥檚 approach. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not about catering to a 鈥楽audi style,鈥 but understanding each individual client,鈥 Kliger said. 鈥淔or example, one of our clients in Riyadh loves Yamamoto and Sacai. It鈥檚 about identifying those preferences and curating options that resonate with their personal taste. That鈥檚 what makes our service unique.鈥

Kliger also touched on the recent acquisition of Net-a-Porter by Mytheresa听and its implications for the Saudi market.

鈥淣et-a-Porter complements what we do at Mytheresa,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e strong in discovery and editorial, while we focus on highly curated, established luxury brands. Together, we can cater to different corners of the luxury market without diluting our individual strengths.鈥

As 黑料社区鈥檚 young, tech-savvy population drives the growth of e-commerce, Kliger emphasized the importance of adapting to the Kingdom鈥檚 digital preferences. 鈥淪ocial media usage here is unique, with platforms like TikTok and Snapchat playing a major role in how people interact and shop. Understanding these behaviors is key to connecting with this market,鈥 he said.

With a focus on personalization, community engagement, and digital strategy, Mytheresa is poised to strengthen its position in 黑料社区鈥檚 thriving luxury landscape. 鈥淭he Saudi market is one of the most dynamic regions for us,鈥 Kliger said.听

CAIRO: The Grand Egyptian Museum opened its doors to the public on Tuesday and attracted around 18,000 visitors, underscoring widespread enthusiasm to explore Egypt鈥檚 newest cultural and archaeological landmark.

Fittingly, GEM opened on a historic date, marking 103 years since the legendary discovery of Tutankhamun鈥檚 tomb on Nov. 4, 1922.

The largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization, GEM is located around 2 km from the Giza Pyramids and covers a total of 490,000 sq. meters.

Despite the large number of visitors on Tuesday, movement between the 12 exhibition galleries remained smooth and organized. Interactive screens and 3D displays provide engaging ways to explore information, while additional resources such as photographs, informational panels, and virtual reality rooms offer diverse visual and educational content.

Also on Tuesday, the museum announced the launch of a new audio guide service, enabling guests to navigate the exhibits housing over 57,000 artifacts with relative ease.

The exhibition space dedicated to Tutankhamun has caused a stir, with international deadlines celebrating the first-ever full showcase of the famed pharaoh鈥檚 belongings.

Arab News toured the gallery on Tuesday, along with exhibitions dedicated to parts of a now-underwater city found off the coast of Alexandria and to Khufu鈥檚 solar boats, grand vessels discovered in 1954 that may have been intended to carry the pharaoh鈥檚 soul into the afterlife.

The Tutankhamun gallery is home to more than 5,000 artifacts showcased together for the first time, just as Egyptologist Howard Carter would have discovered them 103 years ago.

The gallery鈥檚 innovative design immerses visitors in the life of Tutankhamun, who ruled circa 1333 鈥 1323 B.C., taking museum goers on a journey that brings each stage of his story to life.

鈥淥ur philosophy is form follows content. The narrative defines the space. In the Tutankhamun Gallery, the objects themselves tell the story of the young king, his life, his death, and his journey into the afterlife,鈥 German interior design expert Shirin Frangoul-Br眉ckner, managing director of Atelier Bruckner, who participated in the interior design of Tutankhamun鈥檚 gallery, told Arab News.

Tutankhamun鈥檚 iconic golden mask saw visitors gather in awe, while seldom-seen artifacts like the huge coffin of the Golden King are also on display. The mummies of his two daughters, born prematurely, are also housed in the gallery.

Another fascinating draw are the solar boats of King Khufu, who reigned during the 26th century B.C. The story of their discovery began in 1951, when then-Chief Inspector of Antiquities at Giza Mohamed Zaki Nour commissioned Antiquities Service architect Kamal Al-Mallakh to tidy up the south side of the Great Pyramid. In May 1954, upon removing the original enclosure wall of the pyramid complex, two sealed pits were uncovered.

The transportation of King Khufu鈥檚 boats to the GEM complex took approximately 72 hours and began on August 5, 2021. The gallery鈥檚 four floors provide a fresh approach to typical museum displays, with the first three levels offering a complete tour around the boat for an engaging visitor experience.
