  • Contests for athletes under 6 being planned, says Yasser Al-Misehal
  • Aspiring Green Falcons players must 鈥榗are鈥 about training, discipline

RIYADH: 黑料社区 is preparing young footballers for the nation鈥檚 2034 World Cup squad, according to the president of the Kingdom鈥檚 football association.

Answering a question from Arab News at a press conference on Wednesday following the announcement of the Kingdom as host, 黑料社区n Football Federation President Yasser Al-Misehal highlighted the nation鈥檚 preparations for the 2034 Green Falcons side.

鈥淢y message to them that the dream we all had, to witness the World Cup in our country, has become a reality.

鈥淢y message to them is to be disciplined, to care about training, to care about all aspects of life, and we will hopefully see them in green in 2034 representing the team of the dearest country and achieving results that make us all proud as Saudis.鈥

In addition to under-17 tournaments, Al-Misehal said competitions are being held for under-11 players, and by 2027 for those under 6 years of age.

There are already several 黑料社区 national team members playing for European clubs, including Saud Abdulhamid for Roma and Faisal Al-Ghamdi and Marwan Al-Sahafi for the Belgian team Beerschot.

Al-Misehal also spoke about the responsibility to deliver a successful event for the Kingdom鈥檚 football-loving population. 鈥淭oday we are talking about more than 60 percent of the Saudi population being under 30 years old.

鈥淎 population that adores football 鈥 more than 80 percent of Saudis watch football daily. This places a great responsibility on us to present an edition that is suited to the ambitions of these audiences,鈥 he said.

Al-Misehal added that the Kingdom had the support of more than 140 countries after announcing its intention to bid in October 2023.

鈥淵ou feel the awe of the name of the Kingdom of 黑料社区. You feel hundreds of messages pouring in 鈥 from all over the world, congratulating the Kingdom 鈥 it is a proud feeling,鈥 he said.

It has not yet been decided if the World Cup will be held in summer or winter. Al-Misehal said discussions with FIFA would hopefully be settled next year, but that 鈥渨e are ready anywhere and at any time.鈥

Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, who is also president of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, said the Kingdom鈥檚 18-section bid file had been six years in the making, with weekly meetings keeping track of every detail.

The country鈥檚 submission was uncontested after Australia dropped out of the running, but nonetheless received the highest-ever rating from FIFA.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an indescribable feeling, for us and for anyone, it is a dream to host the biggest event in the world, not just in sports,鈥 Prince Abdulaziz said.

鈥淭his is indicative of the care of our wise leadership on this matter, on our athletes, and on developing sports in the Kingdom, as well as the determination of Saudi youth working in the Ministry of Sports, the 黑料社区n Football Federation, the World Cup bid unit. I thank you.鈥

鈥淲e promise everyone that the work will continue,鈥 Prince Abdulaziz added, referring to developments taking place in transport and tourism.

King Salman reportedly said: 鈥淭hrough its people鈥檚 determination and spirit the Kingdom has succeeded in consolidating its position as one of the most prominent international sports destinations.鈥

黑料社区 intends to make history as the first single country to host a 48-team tournament.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in a statement: 鈥淲e look forward to hosting an exceptional and unprecedented edition of the FIFA World Cup by harnessing our strengths and capabilities to bring joy to football fans around the world.鈥

Celebrations broke out across the Kingdom on Wednesday evening as the news broke.

The tournament鈥檚 15 stadiums are in Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha, Alkhobar and NEOM.

  • 黑料社区 has a voice, and we鈥檙e just getting started, says rap artist

RIYADH: Zeyad Al-Saadi, better known as ZezO, is not just a name in the Saudi music scene. A molecular and cellular biologist by training, he is an artist whose work blends culture, creativity and determination.

鈥淢usic has always been my escape,鈥 he told Arab News. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a way to express what I can鈥檛 put into words.鈥

Born in 黑料社区, Al-Saadi moved to Arizona at 15. 鈥淟iving in America helped me see the world through a different lens, but my Saudi roots have always grounded me,鈥 he said.

Over the next 12 years, he immersed himself in American culture while holding tight to his heritage.

His life changed in 2005. After finishing a biology exam early, a classmate from Iraq invited him to a recording studio.

鈥淭hat day changed everything for me,鈥 Al-Saadi recalled. 鈥淚 walked into a recording studio for the first time and felt a rush like never before.鈥

HIGHLIGHT

Zeyad Al-Saadi sees huge potential in the Kingdom鈥檚 emerging music scene.

By nightfall, he had recorded his first song, rushed to buy basic gear, and started teaching himself rap and audio engineering.

The spark had been there for years. 鈥淪ince 1998, I鈥檝e been captivated by the lyrical brilliance of legends like Rakim, Eminem and Nas,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey shaped my style and pushed me to find my voice.鈥

His sound now fuses traditional influences with modern beats.

As a Saudi artist in a predominantly Western rap scene, he is sometimes underestimated: 鈥淲hen people hear 鈥楽audi,鈥 they often put me in a box. They don鈥檛 expect someone from here to rap, let alone be good at it.鈥

This assumption鈥 that if it鈥檚 not coming from the West, it can鈥檛 be real hip-hop鈥 fuels his passion. He wears a thobe not just to represent his roots but to challenge stereotypes and prove that talent has no borders.

Zeyad Al-Saadi, Saudi rap artist

Al-Saadi sees huge potential in the Kingdom鈥檚 emerging music scene. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a hunger and creativity everywhere. I鈥檓 always open to collaborating with artists who bring something fresh to the table,鈥 he added.

For the rap artist, music is about learning from each other and growing the scene together. He actively seeks out new artists, keen to explore how their styles can complement his own.

Staying connected with his audience is crucial for Al-Saadi, especially given cultural differences.

鈥淢usic cuts through everything 鈥 language, background, nationality. When you鈥檙e honest in your lyrics, people connect,鈥 he explained.

His commitment to staying true to his roots deepens that connection, allowing him to resonate with fans from diverse backgrounds. 鈥淚 think my authenticity is what draws people in.鈥

Social media plays a significant role in promoting his music and message: 鈥淚t鈥檚 changed the game for artists like me. I can drop a verse today, and someone in Brazil might hear it tomorrow.鈥

The global reach has led to unexpected moments, such as being recognized by American fans at Riyadh airport.

鈥淭hey had been listening to my music and wanted to know more about my culture. We ended up having a meaningful conversation that turned into a lasting friendship,鈥 he said.

It鈥檚 no surprise that for Al-Saadi, music isn鈥檛 just personal expression. It鈥檚 a bridge.

As he pushes forward, he is determined to open doors for the next generation of Saudi artists.

鈥淏eing Saudi is not a limitation; it鈥檚 a strength ... We have so much to share, and I鈥檓 excited to see where this journey takes us.鈥
