LEARN 2025 boosts 黑料社区鈥檚 digital transformation through smart learning

The LEARN 2025 conference opened on Tuesday, shaping the future of the knowledge economy.
  • On its opening day, conference attracted global experts in enhancing digital skills and capabilities, who participated in sessions

RIYADH: Designed to support 黑料社区鈥檚 digital transformation through smart learning, the LEARN 2025 conference opened on Tuesday, shaping the future of the knowledge economy and showcasing the latest tech solutions in training and education.

The conference, held at the Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City in Riyadh from Oct. 7-9, was organized in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

On its opening day, it attracted global experts in enhancing digital skills and capabilities, who participated in sessions addressing capacity development and the adoption of innovative methods for empowering human capital.

Speaking to Arab News, Solveig Nicklos, senior adviser to the CEO and chief transformation officer at Zayed University, said: 鈥淪audi Vision 2030 is shaping the future of education. (The) LEARN conference and similar events are all critical for us to have. People talk about the fourth industrial revolution and (its) impacts in education, but simply nothing is going to impact teaching, learning and student development the way that technology is now.

鈥淰ision 2030 has for a long time been setting the platform for a mindset shift that is required in the whole world, but certainly in 黑料社区, and developing individuals with the creativity and the agility necessary to pivot at this critical time鈥

鈥淲hile the leadership is embedding technology into the classroom, there is a generation of teachers that have to be trained on how to think, learn and teach with innovative technology.鈥

On supporting the rise of women in digital and technology-driven careers, Nicklos said: 鈥淓ducation for all is hugely fundamental, and women in particular. In the age of AI, we are already seeing women using technology 20 percent less than men because they feel guilty in a situation where there is already a monumental divide between the access to education for many women and access to technology for many people in general.

鈥淲e cannot be further stifled by self-imposing limitations on a technology that is going to be ubiquitous very soon,鈥 she added.

Abdulaziz Al-Suayri, chief product officer at Tatweer Educational Technologies, spoke to Arab News on the importance of proper nutrition for students: 鈥淚 talked about the impact of nutrition on the students鈥 learning behavior and performance 鈥 It is important to identify current challenges in nutrition programs in our schools and education system.鈥

Tatweer Educational Technologies, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, developed the Masroof app, which connects parents, schools, and students to set spending limits, track nutrition, and make cashless school purchases.

At Masroof-enabled schools, parents can set flexible spending limits to encourage healthy financial habits and track their child鈥檚 nutrition, making the spending experience more transparent.

鈥淢asroof was launched this year and in a short span has more than 250,000 students already using it. We have more than 220,000 parents, we have more than 30 qualified suppliers and operators, and we have more than 1,350 schools already using the app,鈥 Al-Suayri said.

The conference also featured specialized workshops highlighting how to use modern technologies to continue the journey of development and training, alongside an exhibition showcasing local and global entities offering products and services in the field.

Mays Al-Salah, product manager at Experts Academy and Knowledge Pathway and an exhibitor at the conference, told Arab News that this was their second time participating in the conference: 鈥淲e connect with a lot of people in the same edutech industry. We are here with solutions and (to) answer the questions of the visitors and exhibitors. It鈥檚 a good networking opportunity.鈥

The LEARN conference is a unique opportunity to foster influential partnerships, drive innovation in training, and strengthen integration across the government, private, and education sectors, crucial for equipping national talents with the necessary digital skills.

The effort supports the digital economy and stimulates innovation, especially by encouraging artificial intelligence skill adoption, and accelerates the shift toward a knowledge economy committed to inclusive, sustainable, lifelong capability development.

The academy aims to attract additional industry partners to launch the first cohort of the program, which will include 100 trainees, half women, with training set to begin in November.

  • Traditional buildings are designed in ways that take into account environmental conditions such as terrain and climate
  • It intends to help modernize the Saudi urban landscape, while keeping the character and tradition of the country鈥檚 architecture alive

RIYADH: The distinctive architectural style of 黑料社区鈥檚 Al-Baha region, included earlier this year in the national Saudi Architecture Characters Map, is one of the region鈥檚 draws for tourism, an expert told the Saudi Press Agency.

Abdullah bin Abdulqader Haridi, associate professor of architecture and building technology at Al-Baha University, said that the region鈥檚 style, influenced by its natural mountainous features, also contributes to energy efficiency.

Haridi said there were three main styles in the region: traditional, transitional, and contemporary.

Al-Baha鈥檚 architecture has distinctive features, including forts, external staircases, patterned doors and windows and the Zafir column style.

Traditional buildings are designed in ways that take into account environmental conditions such as terrain and climate, as well as regional customs that encourage gathering in designated spaces.

Adhering to traditional styles allows for the development of real estate projects that complement local identity, motivating investors to adopt these standards, Haridi added.

The Saudi Architecture Characters Map was introduced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in March, designating 19 architectural styles unique to the Kingdom鈥檚 regions.

It intends to help modernize the Saudi urban landscape, while keeping the character and tradition of the country鈥檚 architecture alive.

Haridi said that the Al-Baha architectural style is energy-efficient, using natural building materials available locally.

Mohammed bin Salem Al-Ghamdi, 73, has worked building stone houses in the region for decades.

He told the SPA that the difference in climate and terrain between the areas of Sarat and Tihama led to a difference in building styles due to the construction materials available.

Al-Ghamdi said that the ancient architecture in Al-Baha was characterized by its  reliance on nature, as the houses were built from local stones such as granite and basalt rocks decorated with myrrh stones, and roofed with juniper woods covered with clay, in harmony with the surrounding environment.

In recent years, ancient architecture in Al-Baha has witnessed a resurgence of interest from people who have taken the initiative to restore and revive their heritage houses.

Many have also been inspired by the old style in the construction of new houses, using stones, patterns and decorations inspired by the history of the place.
