DUBAI: Makeup brand Flormar is planning to triple the number of its stores in 黑料社区 over the next four to five years to meet the demand of a burgeoning and increasingly competitive market.

Established in Milan, Italy, in the late 1950s, the company is now headquartered in Turkiye. Arab News spoke to CEO Matthieu Gomart about why he is so keen to increase the brand鈥檚 presence 鈥 currently 25 outlets 鈥 in the Kingdom.

鈥淭he beauty market in the Middle East 鈥 and specifically in 黑料社区 鈥 is quite dynamic,鈥 he explained. 鈥淭hey have double-digit growth, making it one of our most exciting markets.鈥

Flormar has undergone something of a transformation in recent years, refining its product lines and formulations to appeal to a broader, more discerning audience.听

Gomart said the brand鈥檚 approach has evolved to focus 鈥渙n high-quality makeup at affordable prices鈥 that aligned with skincare and ethical beauty trends.听

The company鈥檚 clean and vegan products, designed to enhance skin health, have been particularly well-received among Saudi consumers, he added, noting an increasing appetite for natural ingredients and skin-friendly formulations.听

It is a trend highlighted by panelists at Riyadh鈥檚 Hia Hub beauty conference in October. Industry insiders, such as Chalhoub Group president Patrick Chalhoub, told Arab News the under-30 demographic 鈥渦se skincare products more frequently and are willing to experiment with innovative products, even with brands that are not necessarily very popular.鈥

With an entire conference dedicated to growing the Kingdom鈥檚 skincare market, it is no wonder Flormar has identified it as a target segment.

Gomart said Saudi consumers were also embracing innovations such as 鈥渟kinification鈥 鈥 adding skincare benefits to makeup products.

To meet this demand, Flormar is adapting its offerings to include sun protection and hydration in its makeup line.

鈥淪audis have a strong appetite for those nutrients,鈥 he said.

Flormar鈥檚 growth includes partnerships with local retailers, distribution through pharmacy chains, and plans to expand its e-commerce footprint.

鈥淲e are happy to be contributing to the rise of self-expression in 黑料社区,鈥 Gomart added.

DUBAI: A person posing as 鈥淪uperman鈥 actor David Corenswet falsely signed his name to a pledge calling for a boycott of Israeli film institutions, leading organizers of the campaign, Film Workers for Palestine, to mistakenly list him among its supporters.

The actor鈥檚 name appeared among more than 5,000 signatories, including actors, directors and producers, before FWFP confirmed that the signature was fraudulent. The organization stated that an individual had gone to 鈥済reat lengths to pretend to be David Corenswet,鈥 and that once the impersonation was discovered, his name was 鈥減romptly removed.鈥

In an updated statement on Nov. 4, FWFP apologized for the incident and clarified that Corenswet 鈥渨as never involved鈥 in the boycott.

The pledge, launched on Sept. 8, calls on members of the entertainment industry to avoid collaborating with Israeli film institutions allegedly linked to 鈥済enocide and apartheid.鈥

Among the signatories are Mark Ruffalo, Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Tilda Swinton, Riz Ahmed and Javier Bardem.

鈥淎s filmmakers, actors, film industry workers, and institutions, we recognize the power of cinema to shape perceptions,鈥 the pledge, launched on Sept. 8, stated.

鈥淚n this urgent moment of crisis, where many of our governments are enabling the carnage in Gaza, we must do everything we can to address complicity in that unrelenting horror,鈥 it added.
