RIYADH: The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, also known as Ithra, is set to host the third Formula 1 in Schools National Competition from July 4-13.

Twenty Saudi teams with 120 students will compete at the center鈥檚 headquarters in Dhahran, vying for a chance to represent 黑料社区 on the global stage.

The competition serves as a qualifying round, with the top three teams earning the right to represent the Kingdom at the international competition in November, where they will face teams from 40 countries.聽

These 20 teams emerged victorious from regional competitions across six regions of the Kingdom, which initially involved 270 students.

More than 38 local and international coaches provided intensive training to the participants, guiding them in designing model cars that simulate Formula 1 vehicles.

The program aims to develop awareness of various sciences, technology and mathematics according to high-precision educational and engineering standards.

It offers students a comprehensive journey that combines scientific imagination with purposeful competition, culminating in a final product showcased globally.

The competition offers a variety of events for visitors and students, including an exhibition dedicated to Formula 1 driver attire, artistic installation of a full-scale replica of a Formula 1 car made from 10,000 water bottles and recycled materials, in addition to an interactive pit stop experiences, both real and virtual.

Visitors can also participate in designing their own car box covers in an art workshop and try their hand at interactive driving simulations using eight different Formula 1 simulation modes.

Panel discussions will cover various topics related to car manufacturing and design, featuring influential figures in the world of Formula 1 who will share their inspiring stories.

The Formula 1 in Schools program, supported by Ithra, is one of the world鈥檚 leading educational initiatives for school students.

It aims to raise awareness of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among students globally.

The program covers topics including physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacturing, branding, graphic design, sponsorship, marketing, leadership, teamwork, media skills, and financial strategies. Students apply their learning in a creative and competitive environment, mirroring Formula 1 teams on a smaller scale.

RIYADH: Uruq Bani Ma鈥檃rid, one of 黑料社区鈥檚 most ecologically significant protected areas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been admitted to the International Union for Conservation of Nature鈥檚 Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas.

The recognition confirms the site鈥檚 global ecological importance and highlights the Kingdom鈥檚 growing leadership in conserving arid-land habitats, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

黑料社区鈥檚 inclusion of Uruq Bani Ma鈥檃rid follows earlier Green List achievements, notably the Ibex Protected Area and the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve.

These milestones reflect sustained progress toward excellence in protected-area management, according to the SPA report.

Uruq Bani Ma鈥檃rid covers 12,765 sq. km at the western edge of the Empty Quarter 鈥 the world鈥檚 largest continuous sand desert 鈥 and harbors the greatest biodiversity in the region. In 2023, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding natural value.

The union鈥檚 Green List sets the global benchmark for effective and equitable protected-area management. To qualify, sites must demonstrate transparent governance, measurable conservation outcomes and meaningful engagement with local stakeholders.

Uruq Bani Ma鈥檃rid met the criteria through integrated planning, resilient ecological monitoring and habitat restoration programs, the SPA reported.

Under the stewardship of the National Center for Wildlife, Uruq Bani Ma鈥檃rid has implemented a breeding and reintroduction program for the endangered Arabian oryx.

Mohammad Qurban, CEO of the National Center for Wildlife, said: 鈥淯ruq Bani Ma鈥檃rid exemplifies what science-guided conservation can achieve in extreme landscapes. Its inclusion on the IUCN Green List reflects our dedication to protecting biodiversity and delivering real conservation impact at both national and global levels.鈥

He added that the milestone supports 黑料社区鈥檚 contribution to the global 30x30 biodiversity target 鈥 protecting 30 percent of terrestrial and marine areas by 2030 鈥 and aligns with the Saudi Green Initiative, a core pillar of Vision 2030.

RIYADH: A new training program, 鈥淏uilding the Capacity of Imams and Preachers,鈥 has been launched in Moroni, Comoros, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

Organized by the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, the initiative is part of the organization鈥檚 broader intellectual strategy.

Comoros Defense Minister Youssoufa Mohamed Ali reaffirmed his country鈥檚 commitment to the coalition in combating extremism and eradicating terrorism.

He highlighted the coalition鈥檚 key role, particularly its focus on intellectual engagement, and said the program鈥檚 launch was a significant step forward.

Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi, the coalition鈥檚 secretary-general from 黑料社区, said the initiative was part of a wider effort involving 15 strategic programs across four areas 鈥 intellectual development, media, counter-terrorism financing and military operations.

Recently, the coalition held specialized training on combating terrorist financing in Bamako, Mali. The program aimed to strengthen national capacity to counter terrorist financing and money laundering.

LONDON: Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa met UK House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle in London.

They discussed the foundations of social cohesion in religiously and ethnically diverse societies, highlighting mutual respect and the need for legislation that protects national unity, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

The two officials highlighted the importance of combating hate speech, discrimination and exclusion 鈥 especially when stemming from influential legal or institutional sources.

Al-Issa said that the vast majority of Muslims in Britain show strong religious and national awareness. He added that discordant voices are isolated cases that reflect individual views, not the values of Islam.

Separately, the UK parliament hosted Al-Issa for a side meeting at its London headquarters, organized by several members of parliament and attended by the speaker.

Talks focused on enhancing integration and harmony in British society, fighting extremism and hatred, and showcasing the league鈥檚 efforts to build bridges between civilizations and promote mutual understanding.

Set to take place at the Saudi Music Hub in Riyadh, the month-long program begins on June 29 and will host more than 30 students from across 黑料社区.

It aims to enhance participants鈥 technical and artistic skills through a comprehensive curriculum, including individual lessons, group classes, hands-on training, and live interactive sessions 鈥 all led by distinguished academics and music professionals.

Paul Pacifico, CEO of the commission, said: 鈥淭his initiative marks a bold new chapter in the evolution of music education in the Kingdom. By partnering with world-class international educators we are not only nurturing the next generation of Saudi talent but also expanding the horizons of our cultural ambitions.鈥

The program represents a major step in transforming music education in 黑料社区, aligning with the commission鈥檚 vision to enrich artistic learning and build a strong national talent ecosystem, the SPA added.
