DUBAI: Iran cannot help in building peace in the country because of its destabilizing activities in the region, Yemen鈥檚 Information Minister Muammar Al-Iryani said in a report from state news agency Saba New.
Al-Iryani鈥檚 comment comes after Martin Griffiths, the UN Envoy to Yemen, met with Ali Asghar Khaji, who is a senior assistant to Iran鈥檚 foreign minister.
Griffiths described his discussions with Khaji as 鈥渃onstructive.鈥
鈥淚 had a very constructive meeting today with Senior Assistant to #Iran鈥檚 FM Ali Asghar Khaji. We exchanged views about the efforts to reach a nationwide ceasefire and create a conducive atmosphere to resume the political process in #Yemen,鈥 the UN envoy said.

鈥淭he remarks ignore Iran鈥檚 role in destabilizing peace in Yemen and using it to attack neighboring states and threaten sea navigation,鈥 Al-Iryani said, noting that Tehran has supplied weapons to Houthi militants for their attacks against nationals and neighboring states.
