RIYADH: Minister of Commerce and Investment Majid Al-Qassabi inspected the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) premises on Thursday to see the progress on the development of Saudi specifications.
“We want to ensure quality in all sectors of the Kingdom, which is in accordance with the government’s Vision 2030 plan,” said the minister, who is also the SASO board chairman.
He said the realization of the plan announced recently by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman depends on the cooperation of everybody.
Al-Qassabi discussed with the SASO staff establishment of a culture of quality in all sectors and other issues.
The minister said that SASO will play an important role in supporting the national economy and in promoting a culture of quality in the various business sectors in the Kingdom in line with Vision 2030.
He toured the SASO laboratory premises and inspected specialized facilities for energy and sanitary ware products.
Al-Qassabi also visited the laboratories for electrical and electronic appliances as well as the National Center for Measurement and Calibration and expressed satisfaction over what he saw.
He asked the SASO staff to step up efforts to support the Saudi industry and the local economy by promoting standards.
“We hope to develop procedures and regulations related to consumer safety, in addition to the continuation of work on the consolidation and dissemination of a culture of quality in all areas and business sectors,” the minister said.
Involvement in the Vision 2030 plan was a great challenge, he added.
